Amanda Gregg, Instructor

Many moons ago, Amanda stumbled across an MTV workout DVD (remember "The Grind"? Yikes! I'm old!) with a yoga stretch at the end and fell down dog… heels over head in love with yoga. It was not until 2004, however, when Amanda decided to further her yoga practice and enroll in the YogaFit teacher training program. At the time, Amanda worked at a retirement community as a Recreation Specialist. Teaching seated fitness classes and yoga as part of her duties propelled her further into study. During her time in NC, Amanda also taught three weekly classes at Marvin United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem.

After moving to Houston, TX in the summer of 2004, Amanda continued to study in the YogaFit style completing higher levels of training and specialized courses in yoga for kids and yoga for building strength. Amanda taught classes at Presbyterian School, South Main Baptist Church, Yoga in the Hood, and The Motherhood Center. Now living in Atlanta, Amanda is excited to teach classes at Northside Drive Baptist Church.

Amanda has studied under several wonderful instructors, including Beth Shaw and Rosanne McDonald. She enjoys practicing a variety of styles of yoga. A Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (200hrs) and YogaFit certified instructor, Amanda teaches an eclectic style of hatha yoga. Utilizing flowing postures, strength building holds, and deep restorative stretches she guides students through a mind-body vinyasa practice. Combining her love for yoga with an encouraging spirit, Amanda finds joy in helping students see the best in themselves. She creates a class inspired by the ebb and flow of a juicy vinyasa practice that cultivates body awareness through a bond between the breath and movement.

Yoga tips for in and out of class

No cell phones or pagers, please.

Practice on an empty stomach, or if you must eat, eat light.

Drink plenty of water after class to help flush out toxins and waste.  Feel free to drink water during class, if needed.

Avoid perfumes and other fragrances, as they may disturb other students.

You may be sore after the first few classes.  This is normal, and will subside
with continued practice.

Take it easy, never force or strain.  Practice "ahimsa", non-harm to yourself.  Work at your own pace.

Feel free to ask questions!  Your instructor is there for you!

Take a few minutes each day to nurture your mind, body and spirit.  Maybe a few poses, a peaceful mediation, or a few quiet moments of
reflection.  Your entire day will be better!

Take what you learn out of class with you.  Yoga can be practiced off
the mat, as well.
